This A-stay transmits the loads from the wheels to the frame of an articulated hauler from VOLVO. In order to reduce the weight of the A-stay, our own optimisation software, ROpt was used.

Four different load cases were included in the optimisation process and 22 design variables were used for parametrisation. The goal function was to minimise the weight with constraints on stresses in the structure.
